We will pick you
up from your hotel in the city of Puno
and head towards the port of Isla
Esteves, located on the shores of Lake
Titicaca. You will receive a brief general explanation about the tour from
our guide-instructor, and then we will begin this fantastic adventure on a water bike.
We will pedal
for a total of an hour and a half,
while observing beautiful birds along the way and breathtaking landscapes. We
will be able to admire Isla Foroba, a rocky island popularly known as Devil`s
Island.
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the
world, sitting at an elevation of 3,812 meters above sea level. This beautiful
place is located in Peru and Bolivia, and it features several important islands
such as Isla Taquile and Isla Amantaní.
We will take a bike ride to the floating islands
of the Uros, where we will have a guided tour and free time to explore the
islands, as well as meet the local inhabitants by visiting their family homes
and learn about their ancestral customs and way of life.
The Uros Islands
are a set of islands made with totora reeds. The houses are also built with the
same material, as it is abundant in the area. The predominant language on this
island is Aymara, but they also
speak Spanish.
The notable fauna in this area includes fish such
as trout, and birds such as hawks, herons, and Andean ducks.
At the end, we
will return to the port of Isla Esteves and then transfer you back to your
hotel.
