We will
depart from your hotel located in the city
of Puno until we will reach the starting point situated at the Lake Titicaca shore. Before departing,
we are going to put on our life jacket and get on the kayaks with safety.
We will
cross the extensive lake admiring the beautiful flora and fauna around. Many kind of birds live in this area and
within the Titicaca National Reserve such as wild ducks, herons and flamingos.
Also, there are species of frogs, and fishes as a daily food.
The Lake Titicaca has an
altitude of 3,812 meters above sea level and it is the second largest lake in
South America.
The kayak tour on Lake Titicaca continues passing
near the rocky island called Isla Foroba and finally we will reach the Uros floating islands. We are
going to explore these incredible totora islands, and learn the community
customs and lifestyle.
The Uros people is an
ancient population dedicated to fishing and farming, as well as tourism all the
year round. These islands are made with totora
reeds. The inhabitants talk Spanish; however, the official language is
aimara.
After this amazing experience you will take a motor boat to go
towards the Island of Taquile
(optional). You will appreciate stunning landscapes with views to Amantani Island, the largest one
located in the Peruvian side.
Upon arrival, the Taquile people
will welcome us, and here you will learn about their lifestyle, as well as look
up to their incredible textile arts
considered as heritage. The people still use old weaving techniques and used
vegetables to dye their textiles.
Enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family. At the end of this
unique experience, you will take the boat to get back to the starting point and
take you to your hotel in the city of Puno.
