DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN IQUITOS
We will
pick you up at the Iquitos airport or, if you are already staying at a downtown
hotel, early in the morning. Our transportation will take us to the port of Nauta,
located two hours from Iquitos, to embark on a one-hour boat ride to this
incredible ecolodge, located in the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo reserve on the banks of
the Yanayacu River.
The reserve is located in the Loreto department, near the
Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Once settled in the lodge, we will enjoy a
buffet lunch with healthy and organic ingredients.
Your jungle adventure will begin by meeting the smallest
monkey, known as the Pygmy Marmoset or Pocket Monkey. We will walk through the
botanical garden located at the lodge to admire various species of medicinal
plants and learn about composting.
We will have dinner at the lodge and embark on an
exciting night boat excursion. We will search for caimans, mammals, and
nocturnal birds.
DAY 2: EXPLORING THE
AMAZON RAINFOREST
After a
good breakfast, we will begin a boat exploration to navigate the Amazon River,
where you can cool off with a swim. We will also search for pink and gray dolphins, which are
common in the area.
During the excursion, we will take you to admire the
world’s largest aquatic plant, the Victoria Regia. We will observe beautiful
iguanas in their natural habitat. At noon, we will return to the lodge to enjoy
a buffet with local and international cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will practice piranha fishing with
handmade rods, a perfect activity for everyone. We will watch the beautiful
sunset at Sapote Lagoon.
Return to the lodge to relax with a delicious dinner. At
night, we will take a night walk to search for giant frogs and tarantulas.
DAY 3: NATIVE COMMUNITY
AND END OF THE JOURNEY
Early in
the morning, we will have breakfast in the lodge’s cozy dining room. We will board the boat to
start an excursion in search of various species of birds and monkeys.
The Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Communal Conservation
Area is a protected natural area in Loreto. We will visit the San Juan de
Yanayacu Community, where you will learn about their customs and traditions.
During the high-water season, this indigenous village lives in floating houses
and uses canoes for transportation.
We will return to the lodge, and you will have free time
to relax in the hammocks or engage in activities like kayaking or swimming in
the river.
We will enjoy our final lunch at the lodge and then take
the boat back to the port of Iquitos, a one-hour boat ride. Upon arrival in
Nauta, transportation will take you to the Iquitos airport or your reserved
hotel in the city.
