Ingapirca is the most important archaeological site in
Ecuador, it is located in Cañar province at 3,160 meters above sea level, in
the middle of a beautiful natural landscape, this site was habited by the
Cañari culture (500 AD) which was an important ceremonial zone, which united
diverse cultures through the Tahuantinsuyo and became, like Macchu Picchu in
Cuzco (Peru), a symbol of the power of the Inca civilization.
Ingapirca, is a Kichwa word that means ‘Inca wall or wall’.
