Our exciting trip begins early in the morning from the city of Riohacha, the capital of the department of La Guajira. We will look for you at your place of accommodation starting at 07:00 AM.
After a trip of approximately 1 hour, We will arrive at the famous Salinas de Manaure. There, you will be welcomed by a local guide from the community, who will accompany you throughout the tour. The Manaure Salt Flats are a natural treasure where salt is extracted by hand. You will have the opportunity to explore the salt farms and learn about the salt extraction process. salt, from the evaporation of salt water to harvest and distribution on a national and international level.
Your visit to Manaure will also be a great opportunity to interact with the local community that inhabits the area and learn about its lifestyle, traditions and the importance of Artemia salina in their culture. You`ll be able to ask questions and immerse yourself in the region`s rich heritage.
We will continue our trip with a drive of approximately 40 minutes to Mayapo Beach. Along the way, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the region, with desert landscapes and panoramic views.
Around 1 PM we will arrive at María`s restaurant, an enterprising and passionate woman who has overcome challenges and that he will delight us with a lunch prepared by his family. You will enjoy local food with views of the peaceful Mayapo beach, where you can relax and enjoy the natural environment.
After lunch, you will have free time to explore Mayapo beach. If you are lucky, you might witness some athletes practicing Kitesurfing, as this beach is known for its ideal winds for this sport.
Before leaving, you will have the opportunity to visit the local communities that belong to the Epiayú clan. Here, you can learn more about their daily activities, such as fishing, creating Wayúu crafts, and herding goats. You will also have the opportunity to purchase authentic crafts.
After an enriching day full of unique experiences, at 04:30 PM we will begin the return trip to Riohacha, where we will leave you at the original starting point.
