The tour begins at 3:00 p.m. with a warm welcome in the picturesque Getsemaní neighborhood, at the informed meeting point (Av. Pedregal #29-225). You will be greeted by a bilingual brewmaster who will introduce you to the fascinating world of Colombian craft beer, especially those from different regions of the country. The master will give you a brief history about the rise of craft beers in Colombia, highlighting the brewing process that turns each beer into a unique work of flavor.
The experience begins with the tasting of the first beers. As you progress, you`ll discover a variety of flavor profiles, from light, refreshing beers to more complex options with fruity, malty, or spicy notes. You`ll sample a total of 8 carefully selected craft beers. During the tasting, the brewmaster will explain the fermentation processes, the types of malts and hops used, and how each ingredient contributes to the unique nuances of flavor and aroma.
The experience is complemented by a delicious pairing. You can choose between a fresh ceviche, which highlights the flavors of the Caribbean, or an Italian-style panini. Both have been specially selected to accompany and enhance the flavors of the beers. As you enjoy the pairing, the brewmaster will help you understand how fresh ingredients and beer profiles come together to deliver a harmonious culinary experience.
As you progress through the final beers in the tasting, you`ll have the opportunity to interact and ask questions about the styles, techniques and secrets behind craft brewing. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere allows you to share your impressions and compare notes with other participants, while the master brewer highlights the growing beer culture in Colombia.
The tasting culminates in a final talk where the flavors discovered are summarized, and the master brewer gives you recommendations on how to continue exploring the world of craft beer in Cartagena and beyond. After three hours of tasting, pairing and learning, the tour ends back at the same meeting point.
