*Live the calm and experience of being just you, the forest and the glacier*
You can split this experience choosing option 1 that includes transfers from "Puerto Tranquilo" and leaves at 07:00 am. Or you can choose option 2 that does NOT include transfers, in this case you can go on your own to the meeting point and where the experience begins at the Dock "Bahía Exploradores" at 09:00 am.
The adventure begins already leaving from Puerto Tranquilo, the amazing landscapes begin to excite us and prepare us for what we are about to experience. Just before crossing the bridge at the northern limit, you must turn onto route X-728 towards the Valle de Exploradores, which you must follow until km. 91 where is the end of the path. It is approximately two hours from Puerto Tranquilo to this point. The meeting time is at 9:00 am in the Explorers Bay, here we will have a large but “informal sector” to park and the crew will be waiting for us.
Once we arrive at the pier, the guide will give us a brief safety briefing and a general description of the trip. Then we will embark on the picturesque boat, called "La Certeza", where we will begin a smooth navigation through the final stretch and delta of the Río Exploradores, a particularly beautiful setting where we will also enjoy a delicious breakfast.
After 2 hours of navigation we will be arriving at the "Laguna San Rafael". Here we will disembark at the CONAF dock and begin a 40-minute walk, along a flat path but with many mallines and water, passing through the historic ruins of the Hotel Ofqui and Arriving at the campsite and common area, here we will have a light lunch.
Then we will start the walk to the "Glacier Viewpoint", Walking along a path that will take us inside the forest and will show us different and wonderful views of the lagoon. To finally reach the viewpoint from where we will contemplate the "San Rafael Glacier" in all its magnitude. It is possible to observe and listen to the thunderous calving of ice, tangible proof of the rapid retreat of the ice. As well as during the tour we will observe species of flora such as Coigües, Canelo, Nalca, Ñirre, Ciruelillo and Ciprés de las Guaitecas, among others, and the endemic Hebe salicifolia which only grows in the Laguna San Rafael park.
Birds characteristic of the evergreen forest and marine ecosystems will also accompany our journey and if we are lucky, we will be able to see the shy Pudú and the elusive Güiñas.
Upon returning from the walk we will have dinner and spend the night in our "Lotus belle tents", equipped with beds, sleeping bags and a small combustion chamber.
The next day, after breakfast We will begin the return to the dock to embark at approximately 12:30 and sail towards the glacier wall. So we can see this magnificent setting from a new perspective. We will have lunch and begin the return to Bahía Exploradores.
