Araucanía.
We will pick you up at your
hotel in Pucón early in the morning at the agreed time to leave with
direction east 33 km from Pucón. We will arrive at this impressive Huerquehue National Park with about 12,500
hectares.
This park is
characterized by being a mountainous area with medium slopes and a
impressive unique beauty where we will find ravines, hills, Araucarias and Lenga forests among other wonders.
It also has a very special fauna like the Darwin`s Frog, the Culpeo Fox and theChilean Condor
in the highest parts of Huerquehue.
It also has a
amazing network of trails that have made it one of the favorite parks
for nature and trekking lovers.
Enter any of the
we will find countless trails:Los Lagos,
8.8 km, and about 7 hours round trip. The Quinchol trail, 5 km long, and about 4 hours round trip. Los Huerquenes, 20.7 km, and 2 days of
trekking. Also the San Sebastián trail,
of 8 km, and about 10 hours of ida and
return, or the Ñirrico trail, of only
0.8 km, and approximately 1 hour round trip.
The Huerquehue National Park has a
environment mostly inserted in the Forest Region
Andean-Patagonic and within the Araucanía Mountain Range.
The waterways of
The largest volume that we will find in the park are the Río Renahue Blanco and Río Quinchol.
In addition, there are more than 20 lagoons, most of them with surface
less than 7.5 ha, the most important are Lago
Toro (27.5 ha) and Verde (32.5 ha) and
Las LagunasChica, Los Patos, Huerquehue,
Hidden, Dry, Clara, Angelina, The
Condors, among others.
Almost all of these
bodies of water belong to one of the most important basins in the region "El Río Toltén". The Araucaria is a common species in the Huerquehue Park, which is of great importance
ethnobotany. This species is the so-called "Tree
sacred" of the Pehuenche People, the
which have historically used the Piñon (seed
of the Araucaria), as a source of food.
