We will begin our
Today`s experience visiting the Ahu
Vaihu and Akahanga. The ahu are temples composed of
stone platforms or altars where groups of moais are gathered together. The Ahu Vaihu is framed by cliffs
where the ocean waves crash, giving it a stunning look. Area
of the Ahu Akahanga has not been
restored and allows you to see the state in which the island was found by the
early explorers.
We will follow our
tour heading towards Rano Raraku,
a volcanic crater formed by the
solidification of the ash, and that contains a lagoon in its interior. Whom
In this place the mysterious moais were carved, which still remain
397 sculptures, still unfinished.
Then
we will visit Ahu Tongariki, a
ceremonial platform 200 meters long that has 15
huge moais. We will also visit Ahu Te
Pito Kura where the impressive Moai Paro is located, the largest on the island, measuring
10 meters high and weighs 85 tons.
In this place too
we will find a large spherical stone that is identified as the navel of the
world, called "Te Pito o Te
Henua".
To close with snap
of gold our day, we will go to take a break at Anakena, the beach más
popular on the island In addition to its natural beauty, we will be able to appreciate a long
row of moais that turn their backs to the sea, which makes it very
special. Here we can enjoy our lunch or Box Lunch (No
It is included, but you can request it as a special if you prefer).
When finished we will return
to the center of Hanga Roa or to your hotel, as you prefer.
Without a doubt the best
way of getting to know a general plan of the Island, getting closer to its culture,
customs and its people.
You can`t
lose if you are Rapa Nui!
