We begin with a pick-up from your hotel in an open Jeep, heading straight to the Tijuca Forest. As we drive through this lush green expanse, we stop at the Chinese Viewpoint, where breathtaking vistas of Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, the Guanabara Bay, and Niterói await. This stop offers incredible photo and sightseeing opportunities.
Our journey continues deeper into the Tijuca National Park, where you’ll learn about the forest’s history and its role in preserving Rio’s ecosystem.
Next, we ascend Corcovado Mountain, home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. A panoramic elevator takes you to the base of the monument. From here, you’ll see the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon, as well as the surrounding mountains and cityscape.
When you stand at the bottom of the 30-meter statue, you will understand why Rio is called the "Marvelous City." After soaking in these views and capturing memorable photos, we descend for lunch at a local restaurant.
To the Top of Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio: tickets included!
After lunch, we head to Sugarloaf Mountain, another of Rio’s iconic landmarks. This peak rises from a small peninsula at the entrance to Guanabara Bay. It gets its name because it looks like traditional sugar loaves.
The journey begins with the Sugar Loaf cable car ride to Morro da Urca, standing 215 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, you’ll see incredible views of the bay, nearby islands, and the city.
A second cable car takes us to the top of Sugarloaf, which is 395 meters high. From there, you can see a 360-degree view of Rio. You will spot Botafogo Beach, Copacabana, and the city center.
The tour concludes with a visit to the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, a tranquil oasis founded in 1808 by Dom João VI. Originally created to acclimate exotic plants, the garden has evolved into a world-renowned research institute.
The garden is home to over 6,000 plant species, including 900 varieties of palms and iconic plants like the giant water lilies and the nearly extinct Brazilwood tree. As you walk along shaded trails, you’ll hear the melodic calls of native birds like the sabiá and curió.
This Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer tour is perfect for those seeking a comprehensive and memorable way to explore Rio’s most iconic attractions in one day.
Whether you’re marveling at panoramic views from Sugarloaf, standing in awe of Christ the Redeemer, or strolling through the Botanical Garden, this tour promises unforgettable memories of the Marvelous City.
