At 9:00 am, passengers are picked up to begin the adventure. An hour later, at 10:00 am, we meet at the start of the trek, ready to visit the native forest on the way to Laguna Esmeralda.
National Route 3 passes through Monte Olivia and Monte Cinco Hermanos outlining our path. At 12:00 pm, we arrive at the Tierra Mayor valley, where our 5 km trek begins through a landscape between mountains, accompanied by the erosion of ancient glaciers.
We will have an initial talk about the use of crampons (in winter) and walking sticks to begin the walk through the subantarctic forest, an area once inhabited by loggers and now home to beavers. At approximately 1:00 p.m., we arrive at the lagoon, which may be frozen depending on the weather, presenting the possibility of walking on the ice, an unforgettable experience.
At 1:15 p.m. we will head to a mountain dome, providing warmth and shelter after the walk. A good mountain stew and coffee await us to replenish energy before the return.
At 2:40 p.m., we begin the return to the vehicle. At approximately 4:00 p.m. we are ready to return to Ushuaia, arriving at 4:30 p.m. full of energy and unforgettable memories.
