The tour begins with the pick-up of passengers from their selected hotels.
The hike begins in the Tierra Mayor Valley. The trail takes us through native forests and peat bogs until we reach the Laguna Esmeralda, our first destination, after approximately an hour`s walk. At this point we take a break to rest and enjoy the scenery.
After the lagoon, the ascent begins on stony terrain. This part is the most demanding of the trek, with a constant climb that lasts about three hours. As we continue, we leave the forest area behind and find ourselves surrounded by the Andes Mountains, whose peaks are impressive.
The trail leads us between orange-hued walls until we reach a natural balcony, from where you can see the Laguna Esmeralda in the background and a wider landscape in the distance. From here we begin the final climb. Depending on the season, this section may require the use of your hands to overcome some tricky steps. A helmet and appropriate equipment are mandatory, and the guide will be present at all times, supervising and assisting the group.
Finally, after about four and a half hours of hiking, we reach the glacier. We are greeted by a 20-meter-high frontal wall, accompanied by a green melting lagoon and a unique environment. In winter, the lagoon freezes over and is covered in snow, allowing you to walk to the foot of the glacier. Here we share lunch and take the opportunity to rest, chat, and enjoy the views before returning along the same path.
