The experience begins when we pick you up at your accommodation.
The route to the Shincal Ruins of Quimivil passes through impressive places. For example, we will walk along the Colorado River, which leaves beautiful landscapes along the way.
We will also visit Cerro Negro, a mountain located in the province of Catamarca, Argentina. With an altitude of approximately 5,700 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest peaks in the region. Its name is due to the dark color of its stones and volcanic rocks, which gives it a distinctive appearance.
Almost reaching our main destination, we will pass through London, the second oldest city in Argentina (founded in 1588), followed by Santiago del Estero. At this point we are already on the side of National Route 40 and at the foot of the Shincal mountain range, near the Quimivil River.
We are now in the department of Belén, and through the gorge of the Quimivil River, on Route 40, we will access this archaeological site so historic and important in the history of Catamarca: the Shincal Ruins of Quimivil. This place was the southernmost city of the Inca Empire.
After the visit, on the way back we will have about 140km of travel retracing our previous steps, until we reach our accommodation in Tinogasta.
