The route begins in Tinogasta, where the trip starts at 5:00 am with the pickup of passengers at centrally located hotels.
From there, take Route 60 towards La Rioja, continue along Routes 40 and 43 until reaching Villa Vil.
From Villa Vil, the road continues for more than 100 km of gravel until reaching the Campo de Piedra Pómez, passing through the town of El Peñón. During the journey, you can see impressive landscapes such as the Carachi Pampa Volcano, the Laguna Blanca Hill and the historic town of Londres, the second oldest urbanization in Argentina.
We will spend approximately 1 hour and a half at Campo de Piedra Pómez, where we will be able to take a walk and explore the protected natural area, which covers more than 75,000 hectares at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. The guide will be giving you directions on how to take the best photos in this place that seems to be from another planet.
After visiting Campo de Piedra Pómez, we will return to Tinogasta.
If the visit to Carachi Pampa is included, the excursion stops at the volcano, allowing visitors to go around it and observe the lagoon and the salt flat of the same name. In these lagoons, you can see flamingos, the only permanent inhabitants, which feed on algae and snails in highly alkaline waters.
The tour ends with drop-off at the central hotels in Tinogasta around 10:00 p.m.
