Our 4x4 safari for nature it starts from the meeting point at 09:00 am, we will begin the journey towards the south of the spa towards the Camino de los Pulperos ; This road is located along 180 km of the Patagonian Atlantic coast, in colonial times it was known as the “Camino Real” and little by little Little did it become the driving force of the area`s fishery.
2 km after leaving, we will make
the first stop at the Villa de los Pulperos where we will learn about the history of the spa, home of the first settlers of Las Grutas, and the guides will explain to us how It is the
collection of the Octopus Tehuelchus, the smallest pulpit in the world.
Currently the Camino de los Pulperos is discontinued, but we can see some boats that capture mollusks by diving or fish with purse seines, and also some locals who during low tides revive the tradition, capturing shellfish such as clams , mussels, and octopus from the intertidal zone, until the tide rises again.
Advancing 4 km towards the south, we will reach the < b>Playa de Piedras Coloradas, where we will do an interpretation walk, this beach is recognized for its rock formations from the Precambrian Era and its reddish hue. We will also take advantage of the dunes to practice Sandboarding, sliding on sleds or boards over the sand dunes is a very fun and safe activity, the guides will provide us with basic instructions and the boards andthe descent will be free.
We continue with the path 10 km further south, to meet El Sótano , a coastal area where the greatest difference in tides in the entire country is recorded. At this point we will pause to see the changes in the tide and learn how and why they occur.
Further south and touring the beaches of the coast in the 4x4 truck, we will explore the Cañadón de las Ostras, where you can see 15 million year old marine fossils, in a natural setting surrounded by the desert of bushy vegetation and bathed by the warm, turquoise waters that will surely invite us to take a dip.
We will close this 4x4 adventure with a spectacular toast in front of the sea, to return to Las Grutas after a 4-hour journey.
