Along the Quebrada del Toro, the landscape takes your breath away with its majestic mountains and the rapid transition of environments in the first 14 km of the route.
After picking you up from your hotel located in the city center, our starting point is Campo Quijano, also known as "The Portal of the Andes", located on RN 51. From here, we will cycle towards the Viaducto del Toro. This iconic railway bridge, built in the 1920s, rises some 28 meters above the ground and stretches an impressive 250 meters. It is the perfect setting for a stop, where we can admire its imposing structure and capture memorable photographs.
After a well-deserved break to hydrate and enjoy the scenery, we will continue our mountain bike ride along RN 51 towards the "El Alisal" station, completing the first 14 km of our journey. During this journey, we will witness the surprising transformation of the landscape, going from the sub-Andean mountain ranges to a more arid and semi-arid environment, where the characteristic cardones begin to appear.
At the "El Alisal" station we will take a well-deserved break to recharge our batteries before starting the return to Campo Quijano. This time, we will follow the tracks of the old C 14 branch line, also known as the Train to the Clouds, which will allow us to enjoy unique panoramic views of the Quebrada del Toro. During this exciting stretch, we will go through a tunnel, pass over the imposing Toro Viaduct, cool off with the breeze from a waterfall about 15 meters high and pass by the historic Gothic chapel of Río Blanco, built in 1914. Finally, we will complete our approximately 27 km Mountain Bike adventure by returning to Campo Quijano, taking with us unforgettable memories of this beautiful experience.
After returning to Campo Quijano, you will have the option to enjoy lunch or a snack (expenses will be borne by the passenger). Or you can choose to return to Salta Capital, to end up at the hotel or meeting point.
