After the bus picks us up from the meeting point, we leave Puerto Madryn at 8.30 am and travel about 75 km of Patagonian steppe, until we reach the southern end of the mouth of the Golfo Nuevowhere the Punta Ninfas lighthouse is located, a valuable reference point for sailors entering the gulf.
On the beaches surrounding Punta Ninfas we can see the breeding grounds of elephant whales and sea lions.
We continue on our way to El Pedral, an authentic Patagonian estancia house which is a museum in itself.
We will head to the colony of Magellanic penguins in the El Pedral reserve. A guided tour of their nests allows us to get to know these curious animals better.
In 2009, the first 14 pairs of Magellanic penguins conquered the beach of El Pedral. The colony prospered rapidly and some 6,000 individuals make up the reserve.
Meanwhile, from early in the morning, the head griller with the help of his assistants, will prepare a Patagonian lamb that is hard to forget. We will enjoy lunch in the ranch house.
After lunch, while the children have fun in the pool or on the farm, we can enjoy the warmth of the barbecue area, with a delicious tea or coffee accompanied by a typical Welsh cake, before starting our return trip.
We will return to Puerto Madryn around 5:00 p.m.
