Travelling In Camarones

Camarones is the head town of the Florentino Ameghino department, Chubut province located on the Atlantic coast.
It is about 250 km south of Trelew and 240 north of Comodoro Rivadavia.

Currently it is an area where several initiatives for the conservation of the Natural and Cultural Heritage, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, PATAGONIA AZUL (2015), the Patagonia Austral Coastal Marine Interjurisdictional Park (2007), the Cabo Dos Bahías Reserve (1973), which protects a colony of Magellanic penguins, and the actions of the Global Pinguin Society (GPS) and Rewilding Argentina. In these lands a lot of marine history converges, and a rich marine fauna. The Leones Lighthouse and the friendly dolphins are part of the must-sees.
The best time to visit Camarones is from October to March, which coincides with spring and summer in Argentina. During these months, the weather is warmer and more pleasant, ideal for enjoying outdoor activities and exploring natural attractions, such as the Punta Tombo Wildlife Reserve, famous for its penguins. In addition, these months are perfect for bird watching and other ecotourism activities.
To get to Camarones from Buenos Aires, you must first take a flight to Trelew or Comodoro Rivadavia, the closest cities with airports. From there, you can rent a car or take ground transportation. The distance is approximately 250 km from Trelew and 260 km from Comodoro Rivadavia, which represents about a 3-hour drive. The routes are well signposted and offer panoramic views of the Patagonian landscape.
In Camarones, tourists can enjoy activities such as penguin watching at the Punta Tombo Wildlife Reserve and sport fishing in Camarones Bay.
