We left from Villa Antofagasta taking Route RP43 in the van.
Our first stop is Paicuqui, a perfect place to stop and capture the beauty of the landscape with our cameras. Paicuqui is a town with low vegetation and grasslands, but it has a viewpoint at more than 3,500 meters above sea level to see the city of Antofagasta de la Sierra.
We continue our journey following the course of the Trapiche River, where if we are lucky we could see vicuñas, llamas, partridges, trout, partridges and parinas on our way.
Our next point of interest is the Salar Hombre Muerto viewpoint. This salt flat, located 4,000 meters above sea level, extends over 588 square kilometers and is known for its wealth of lithium. Its name comes from a tomb found at the beginning of the 20th century. From the viewing point, we can see the vast expanse of the salt flat and learn from the guide about its ecological and economic importance.
On the way back, we visit the Incahuasi mine, made up of two parts that we will visit. This place is full of history, as it was formerly exploited by the Incas and later by the Jesuits. It is considered one of the greatest preserved vestiges of the Spanish-indigenous period of the Argentine Puna.
Before ending our tour, we stop at the Laguna del Caro viewing point, an ideal place for a last photo session.
Finally, we continue along Route RP43 until we return to Antofagasta.
