Among the protagonists of the best chocolate in Bariloche is Benroth, a small family business with 53 years in the market. Bernardo Benroth, born and raised in Bariloche, founded the company in 1965, after working in several hotels and learning the art of chocolate with French and Swiss chefs who visited the city. Also his teacher was the pioneer Aldo Fenoglio, a native of Torino (Italy) and founder of the first artisan chocolate shop in Bariloche in 1948.
Bernardo's daughter, Silvina and his son-in-law Eduardo Grassi took over 30 years ago. The third generation of Benroth works in the factory.
The unmissable products of this traditional chocolate shop are: chocolates with orange and aguaribay, sour cherries macerated for six years in liquor and dipped in chocolate. Trekking snacks are also a delight for the palate: a mix of dried fruits, cereals, honey and chocolate designed for hiking in the mountains.
Another classic from Benroth are chocolates filled with cream and pistachios, semi-soft tiramisu, marzipan with semisweet chocolate, cognac grapes, Swiss cream, raspberries and whiskey. Among the newest products are chocolates with smoked, spicy and spicy paprika, ideal to pair with cheese, cold cuts, wine or beer.
Benroth is considered in Bariloche as the "gourmet chocolate shop" because it offers innovative elaborations with the finest raw materials. You can also find the classic chocolates filled with and without liquor, chocolates with dried fruits, nougats, bar chocolates and alfajores.
