Mendoza is a destination that invites you to enjoy many activities, one of the travelers' favorites is to go shopping, there are a lot of local clothing, design, technology and regional products, leathers, mates, wines, oils and handicrafts of excellent quality and at good prices.


Most of the  stores are located  around the city center and are easily accessible by car (have parking), on foot, and by public transport. 


When choosing  where to shop you will see that there are endless options. In this guide that I leave you will find the most outstanding places that are worth visiting during your stay: 




Mendoza Shoppings


If it is about large shopping centers, Mendoza has a wide variety of shopping malls near the center of the city and in the surroundings, where you can find urban and sports clothing stores, decoration stores, technology, toy stores, wineries, perfumeries, food courts and even supermarkets. Below I mention each of them: 




Mendoza Plaza Shopping





 



It was built 20 years ago and is one of the most important in the Cuyo region, for being a benchmark of fashion, gastronomy and entertainment. Mendoza Plaza Shopping   is located in the town of Guaymallén, just 10 minutes from the city.


It has more than 180 premises divided into national and international brands, added varied recreational offer (Theme Park for children) and gastronomy. It also has 10 cinemas,  belonging to the string Village.


The stores are open to the public from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm, while the food and playground for children until 12 pm. The shops that you can find are sports, mountain and urban clothing for adults and children, decoration houses, accessories stores for cell phones, notebooks and tablets, also technology for gamers and all kinds of equipment and household appliances. You can also find perfumeries with imported fragrances and excellent personal care products. 


Other extra services that you can find are  ATMs, libraries, currency exchange, pharmacy, locksmith, dry cleaner, a supermarket and shoe shops.


The entire establishment has free Wi-Fi areas.





Open Mall Palmares




 



Its striking infrastructure and glass ceilings place it among the most prominent and modern shopping malls in the country.

 

Open Mall Palmares has haute couture clothing stores and prestigious brands for both men and women. There are also clothing stores for babies and children. There are technology, electro and home stores such as: Samsung, Dormusic, Garbarino, Arredo and Esencia de los Artesanos. In addition, there is a sector dedicated to sports, where you can find  mountain clothing, football, running, hockey and rugby  for all ages.

 

It also has movie theaters of the Cinemark chain with 10 projection areas and the latest releases available. In addition, it has a play area for children and several outstanding international gastronomy venues.


Open Mall Palmares is located at 20 minutes from Mendoza capital, in the town of Godoy Cruz, it can be accessed by car through the Juan Domingo Perón West Corridor or by public transport from the city center (line 400).

 



 

La Barraca Mall







It was inaugurated in 2013 and is characterized by being the most recent shopping in Mendoza. Unlike the rest, his style originated from a great inspiration by nature: green spaces, groves and water mirrors.

 

La Barraca Mall has more than 140 stores of regional and national brands, among which are the fashion stores for men and women, urban clothing and sports for children. they can find various technology, entertainment and home stores. Fairs and markets of the city



Do you want to take a souvenir, a gift or products to consume? Fairs and markets are the best place to choose local crafts, homemade and handmade products, where you will see various stalls staffed by their own owners, who offer their products in a very warm way. The fairs are a classic in the city, where locals go for a walk on weekends and tourists get to know the local culture and flavors. Here are the most important ones:




Mercado Central






It is located in the center of the city on the corner of Las Heras avenue and Patricias Mendocinas. The Central Market offers edible products typical of the area, such as spices, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, pregnant stuffed olives, oils, flavored vinegars, acetos, preserves, wines, alfajores, chocolates, cookies and baked goods at very affordable prices.


As you walk through the market, you can see other products such as meats, cold cuts and seafood. Each stand has its own exclusive service of fresh products, snacks, prepared meals and you can  try traditional dishes of Cuyo cuisine in its food court. 


In the market there are also small craft stalls with mates, cooking boards, bowls, knives, blankets and ornaments.


In addition, it is also common on weekends that  live music shows are held.


The central market is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 9 pm, Saturdays from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm and on Sundays from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.





Feria Artesanal La Estación




 



 


Located next to the old train station in the heart of the city, Paseo Artesanal La Estación is an artisan fair where music and artisan products from Mendoza predominate.  It is a good place to spend a pleasant moment and find micro-enterprises and quality handicrafts. 


At Paseo Artesanal La Estación you will find all handmade products such as ponchos, purses, hats and leather wallets, pictures of different landscapes of Mendoza, there are several stalls of  bijouterie, key rings and home accessories. Also there are stands for children with sales of puppets and clothes. You can taste differents stands of chocolates, alfajores, nuts dipped in chocolate, caramelised (peanuts or almonds with caramel). We also sell oils and preserves. 


The fair is open from Friday to Sunday from 5 pm to 11 pm. 





Paseo Peatonal Sarmiento

 






Paseo Peatonal Sarmiento is located in the heart of the city. There are three pedestrian blocks that start from the Plaza Independencia. In these streets you will find technology such as Mobi Shop, where they sell cell phone accessories, watches, audio accessories, computer equipment and video games.


There are also urban and sports clothing stores for adults and children: Vaypol sports,  Mimo,  Grimoldi,  Bowen,  Ciroca Kids or glasses: The Pyramid


If you are looking for something for the kids you can find the toy store Loly Pop, they have games of table, articulated Marvel and Disney characters, baby toys, costumes, backpacks, paintings, stuffed animals and cars of all sizes.


In this pedestrian you can make a stop at SBS librariesan excellent choice for lovers of novels, short stories and magazines. It is located in the first block of the pedestrian street. 


If you are interested in bringing a sweet gift, there are chocolate and alfajores stores like,  Havanna and  Portal del Viento.

 

In the surroundings you can find restaurants with outdoor tables to make a stop to enjoy a delicious meal, a coffee or a tasty ice cream. In street corners there are usually street music and entertainment shows.

 




Wine shops 






The wine shops or wine bars are another ideal place to shop and take something typical of Mendoza. In the wineries you can choose the perfect wine, since in the same you have labels from a great variety of renowned wineries, boutique wines, organic and of different types of grape variety.

Oil and olive stores






Other stores that visitors do not want to miss are the  olive oil and olives sales,  since Mendoza has the main and most awarded producers.


In the stores you will be able to see the wide variety of brands on offer, from artisanal to the most award an international level.  In addition, all kinds of products derived from green or black olives are offered as pasta, preserves that are ideal for gifts or eating at home.  


Olive oil is a  vegetable oil mainly for culinary use. It is obtained from the fruit of the olive tree (Oil europaea). Almost a third of the pulp of the olive is oil. For this reason, since ancient times they are easily extracted with a simple pressure exerted by a mill.


In the premises you go to be able to find all the varieties of olive oil:  picual, organic virgin olive oil, extra changlot and extra virgin.  Although the people of Mendoza have their favorite and it is the virgin extra, it is the highest quality and the least bitter.

Handicrafts and leather stores



In Mendoza it is habitual find handicraft shops especially in the central areas of the city, since visitors really like to take a souvenir or a gift from the destination. The favorites are usually the made of leather, since they represent the characteristic material of the entire area.

Ayllu began around year 2000, as an effort to preserve the history of popular art. The word ayllu is of great significance for the families of the Andes, as it highlights the importance of the community. Here we sought to build a bridge between the past and the present, bringing original works of art.


Ayllu is without a doubt a place to meet the roots of Latin American art.  In this store you can buy leathers, tapestries, bowls and ornaments made of ceramics and wood. You will also find wooden sculptures, silver utensils and religious objects. There is also a playground for the little ones, and a bar to enjoy well-cooked meals.




Cueros Armando 







Cueros Armando is a store specialized in leather, it is the most recognized in Mendoza. Here you will find   men's and women's clothing: jackets, vests, hats, berets, gloves and belts. They also offer accessories such as wallets, key chains, document holders, purses, fanny packs, handbags, wallets, covers, caps, backpacks. 


You can find a sector with  shoes, boots and espadrilles . Also offered are  mats, mates, bulbs, cutlery. 


The products offered are all manufactured in cow and goat leather. In addition, you will find ponchos, sweaters, blankets, rugs and home accessories made with sheep and guanaco wool.


Cueros Armando is located on Av. Las Heras just  four blocks from the main square. 





Las Viñas









Las Viñas is located on Avenida Las Heras, in the center of the city. It is the ideal store for those looking for varieties of  ponchos, handmade mates and T-shirts with native drawings of the region. In addition, unlike the rest of the premises, it has a Malbec wine sector and they advise you on the most recommended according to your tastes.


It is a store where you will find the main crafts, it will be difficult to leave this store with nothing because everything is very tempting. They also have sales of pocket knives and  cutler typical of the country, leather upholstery, rugs and tencillos for the kitchen:  bowls, spoons, forks, some are made of wood, clay and ceramic. 





Yuchan Artesanias







Yuchan is an authentic craft store in the city of Mendoza. It has magnificent rugs, Argentine gaucho hats, mates, belts and jewelry, it is a place that a demanding tourist looking for good items cannot miss.


The store also sells  saddles, boleadoras, field panties and items for lovers of horses. They also stand out for the sale of gaucho hats and berets with a waterproof fabric system.

Chocolate shops


The  chocolate shops It is a very good stop to take a delicious drink or enjoy the place. The most popular chocolate flavors to choose from during your visit to the store are: the semi-bitter walnut, almond, chestnut or hazelnut tablets, the chocolates filled with strawberry, mint or raspberry cream.

Around Avenida Las Heras, in the center of the city you will find several Shopping galleries, where you enter through a corridor that overlooks the street and inside you have a great variety of shops next to each other. Galeria Piazza





It was remodeled a few years ago and today it is one of the most visited galleries in Mendoza for its variety of shops, its relaxed atmosphere, the sophisticated decoration and the good service.


In this two floors of the gallery, you will find different clothing stores for both men, women, children and babies. There are antique stores, bookstores, toy stores, and accessories stores for cell phones, tablets and notebooks. There are audio houses with all kinds of appliances for the home or to carry around. There are also watch shops and jewelers.


If during the walk you want to take a break, there is  a very recommended called  “Laugh Greta” with a very varied menu to enjoy a lunch or snack. 


Galleries Piazza is open from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm and is closed on Sundays. 





Galeria Kolton 









This gallery is located a few blocks from Plaza Independencia and  has more than 25 stores, where you will be able to buy: clothing, sneakers, shoes, clothing from swimming, jewelry, pet accessories. It also has local audio, cell phones and computing.


There are a sector of  sale of yarns and wool. In addition, there are bookstores selling new and used books. 


For men looking for formal wear, there is a  shop selling suits.


Kolton is open Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 9 pm.







Galeria Mendoza






Galeria Mendoza is a One-storey shopping center, where you will find sports and urban clothing stores for all ages, there are stores for girls accessories, purses, handbags, lingerie stores, shoe stores and home accessories stores.   You also have the possibility to buy crafts, wines and oils in various stores. 


Something curious about this gallery is that it has aesthetic centers and sale of products for men (barbers and hairdressers) and women (massages, hairdressing, eyebrow profiling, manicures and pedicures).
