San Pedro de Atacama is a little town located in the second region of Chile. It is considered the archeological capital of this country, and the center of the India culture of Atacama.

The Atacama is a privileged geographical environment surrounding amazing landscapes. Its main characteristics are a spectacular beauty with a deep blue sky that brightens all time.

It is not just a desolate, arid, wilderness place; in fact, this desert is overflowing with life.

In the Atacama you can explore its particular landscapes, vast salt flats, active geysers and intense blue lagoons, which are extraordinary features of this area.

Lauca National Park

The main attraction is the Chungura Lake, one of the highest in the world. It is located at the foot of the Payachata twin volcanoes. There, you can visit its locations of archeological and historical interest.

Later, you can also know the Village of Chucuyo and the settlements of Chungará, Ajata, and Cruzane to travel to the pre-Columbian past of the Aymara people.

And if you are an adventurer you must camp at the foot of the volcanoes or go fishing in the Park’s river. Both places have amazing views, unforgettable

Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Offices

If you want to know about history and economy, you must visit the saltpeter mine. It was the world's most important in the 20th century.

Knowing about the process of transformation of the saltpeter mine and its industrial settlements into a community is interesting.  This community had its own language and traditions. There, the amazing ghost towns charm tourists.

This place is part of the most glamorous periods of history.

Moon and Mars Valley

Peculiar rocky formations, dunes, and salt mountains are an attraction that you cannot miss. At night, the Moon Valley and the Mars valley become the most romantic spot for stargazing.

It is close to San Pedro de Atacama. There are many activities to do in this place. You can bike, trek or sandboarding.

El Tatio Geyser

You must go to El Tatio just a few minutes before the dawn, and you can see geysers. Its fumaroles create white steam columns, and the best moment to see them is between 6  and 7 in the morning.

In the Atacama its ancient culture offers a welcome to the travelers. The amazing landscapes are the beginning of an unforgettable tourism adventure.
