Cusco is located close to the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. This is a river where you can enjoy an adventurous activity like rafting.

The practice of this activity depends on the time of the year, the rainfall and the conditions of the river.

The most common places for a day of rafting are San Salvador, Quiquijana, Huambutio, Chuquicahuana, and Ollantaytambo. These locations are one or two hours from Cusco.

There are many rafting tours that departures every day, but if you go to Cusco in high season you will need to schedule a tour few weeks in advance.

The Urubamba River has some exciting whitewater. One of the most popular Rafting sections is the Chuquicahuana "Chuqui", and it is class IIl.

People in charge of the tour pick you up at your hotel with its private transportation.

After one and a half hours driving you will arrive at the shores of the river. There, the guides will give you a safety talk and provide you all the equipment for Rafting.

You will be floating on a section of the river classified as class II for approximately two hours. This is an introductory type rapid; it means that it is for beginners. In this section of the river, you can also find hydrospeeds and inflate kayaks.

But, if you are an adventurer and you will want to enjoy a second-day tour, it will be possible in the section of the Urubamba River known as Chuqui.

It is a section of the river named Chuquicahuana, where the tourists will be running class III and IV rapids.

This tour includes some extra safety things such as kayaker.

We recommend you bring some things such as a complete set of dry clothing, a pair of sandals or shoes for the river, sunblock, a small towel, a Swimming suit to wear under the wetsuit and finally a good positive mental aptitude.

Adventure is the word that describes this activity. But, you will also enjoy the marvelous landscapes of this area.
