In the heart of Argentine Pampas region is San Antonio de Areco a small town nearly 70 miles northwest of Buenos Aires,  It's a great 1½-hour day trip by car or bus from Buenos Aires or the perfect jumping-off point for those who choose to visit at a nearby estancia, or a traditional large rural ranch and estate.  Its proximity to Buenos Aires has made it an ideal destination for practicing  "mini-tourism" or "getaway". Due to its cultural and landscape contrast Federal Capital, plus its own characteristics and proposals, San Antonio de Areco receives an important number of national and foreign tourists.  San Antonio de Areco has all services for a comfortable visit,  from gastronomic services to lodgings they could go from simple inns to the most sophisticated rooms.  Fiesta de la Tradición on November is considered the oldest Creole celebration in Argentina.   Heritage Preservation Zone, popularly known as Casco Histórico with italian-creole architecture (1870-1930) is the main attraction. It is common to see groups of photographers walking on streets with cameras capturing bars, moldings or old doors.  Old bars, bowling alleys and stores detained in time are unmissable places and represent a classic visit to the town. There are also eight museums of regional and traditional themes which a visitor can form a complete idea of ?? San Antonio de Arepo history and culture. Creole Park and Gauchesco Museum "Ricardo Güiraldes" stand out, a symbol of Areco and entire community pride.  It highlights the work of its artisans: silversmiths, dyers, saddlers, blacksmiths, pampas weavers and potters who have coined the terminology of "Artesano Arequero" with their works and trajectories.

La Fiesta de las Tradiciones in San Antonio de Areco is a cultural milestone of tradition, and this is not only because more than 75 years ago this celebration was carried out, but because of particularity of it; since it was in those days, the whole town, is shown to the whole world, with its own identity.  Countrymen are the protagonists of the celebrations with their horses; also  artists, musicians, dancers; painters ... That is to say, all those that make up cultural baggage of this people and that have allowed them to be custodians of the noblest tradition that make up Argentine being; "El gaucho", proud of the past, in which each year renews commitment for a lifestyle, in a typical village of the Pampas plain. Currently, main events take place on weekend next November 10. These celebrations, in addition to recreating a historical fact, are a true homage to country man, and around that figure various acts are carried out during weeks leading up to the big day.  Already on eve Criollo Park begins to prepare for the great celebration: Saturday at noon, roasts and meetings. In the afternoon in the field of skills: Pialada de yeguarizos outside door; Arrange as you can; ring run; squad races and at the end of the afternoon fires will light up to give life during the night to the encounter of traditional music, songs and dances.  On Sunday,  streets are already dressed as a party. Municipal Dance School precede the festivities in front of the Municipal Palace and begins with the Fanfarria "Alto Peru" of the Horse Grenadier Regiment "Gral. San Martin".  Afterwards, the flag bearers of the horse, who receive from the authorities the National and Provincial Flag, begin the parade where about 2,000 people participate, and about 60 herds.  The parade extends through several streets of the town, then go to "La Blanqueada". There will be great Creole lunch with its music and traditional dances.  Already in the field of skills the countrymen prepare themselves for interlude of tropillas and rest of criollo skills that will be carried out in during the day to sunset.

San Antonio de Arepo also has many Historical monuments.  In 1999 Presidency of the Nation declares San Antonio de Areco: "National Historic Interest Village" .
