The city of Cusco is located in the western part of the valley of the Watanay River. it is considered one of the highest cities in the world with a height of 3,350 meters. Cusco is also the city with the most beautiful views in the world.

It is the cradle of the ancient Inca civilization, and, obviously, it is known for its proximity to the amazing archaeological ruins of Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu

This Inca jewel was built, in an ecological environment, with the wisdom of the ancient Peruvians. Clouded mountains are the main decoration of its Captivating landscapes.

The archaeological site of Machu Picchu is bounded by the rivers Apurímac and Urubamba. It is nestled in the subtropical zone; therefore, it has a benign climate, which is warm and humid.

The Intihuantana

This place is a Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. It was an Incas' sacred place, which is linked to the solstices and the equinoxes. It is located on a hill made up of several terraces and platforms.

The Square

There are four squares on different levels and they present rectangular forms in the classic Inca style. They are interconnected with the platforms and terraces.

Huayna Picchu

Huayna Picchu roughly translated means "Young Mountain". It is possible to climb Huayna Picchu; although it is difficult to reach the top. There, you can also find small ruins of temples. The views of the citadel of Machu Picchu are impressive from the top of Huayna Picchu.

Machu Picchu is the birthplace of the world. And, it was selected as Eighth Wonder of the World.
