Blue Lake Cave or Blue Lake Grotto is a gorgeous natural monument.  The particularity of the place is that water turns to a special blue  tonality  that seems magical  and especially beautiful when the sun shines through a hole in the ceiling of the cave, and makes it shine from the water.

Blue Lake Grotto is located near Bonito, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, a famous city for its natural attractions and ecotourism. The cave was discovered in 1924. Not much is known about the origin of the water in the lake, it is believed that it comes from an underground river, but it is estimated that total depth reaches about 90 meters. Panorama is completed with speleothem formations both on ground and roof.

In 1992, a Franco-Brazilian expedition dived into the caves and found a great surprise: thousands of bones of prehistoric animals,  giant mammals of the Pleistocene era lay at the bottom of the cave. From saber toothed tigers of giant sloths, underwater deposits tremendously rich in fossils of giant mammals.

It is possible that no human being had set foot in this cave until it was discovered by one of the local Indians. The cave is a part of one of the largest flooded cavities on the planet

Watch  Blue Lake Cave sparkling beauty which is one of the most beautiful caverns in the world.
